Anita Rowe is a Regional Senior Improvement Advisor with the HSCQI Hub. She is a speech and language therapist by profession, with over 20 years’ clinical experience supporting children with speech, language and communication needs in a range of settings.
Anita is a graduate of the Scottish Improvement Leaders (ScIL) course and has a masters in Interprofessional Health and Social Care Management. She is passionate about the implementation of evidence-based practice in health and social care, and the factors that affect the translation of research into real-life contexts. Her PhD involved the co-production of an intervention to support children with working memory, attention and language difficulties in the classroom. It was underpinned by a realist approach and current thinking around public health interventions within complex systems.
As a clinician, Anita led several improvement projects that demonstrated the benefits of service user engagement and co-production. She views Quality Improvement (QI) methodology as an important tool that can be used to bridge the gap between research and practice in patient-centred care. Prior to joining HSCQI, Anita was the Quality Improvement (QI) Lead for Allied Health Professions (AHPs) in Belfast Health and Social Care Trust.
In her HSCQI role, Anita leads on Mental Health Collaborative and QI training and education across the region. She is also the professional link for AHP staff across the HSC who are interested in QI.
