A celebration event was held on the evening of Wednesday 15th May for the medical and dental trainees graduating from the Core Steps, First Steps to Leadership and STEP Quality Improvement Training Programmes.
Dr Claire Lundy welcomed everyone in attendance, thanked everyone from the STEP faculty and presented a short video, which featured comments from STEP Trainees.
Following the opening remarks by the Trust Medical Director, Dr Cathy Jack, graduates from First Steps delivered a pecha kucha (short, fast-paced presentation), combining a series of QI projects in the form of a patient journey.
STEP project winners in, ‘Improving Patient Safety’ and ‘Improving Patient Experience’ were presented by Dr Evelyn Ervine and Dr Gerard Kelly. Dr Annemarie McShane presented the winning project from the South Eastern Trust and dental trainee, Laura Graham, delivered a presentation of the winning project from the School of Dentistry.
In his closing remarks, the Trust’s Chief Executive, Martin Dillon thanked the winning presenters and praised the commitment shown by all trainees. He remarked that he felt uplifted by the whole event, which was a great showcase of quality improvement work.
