A group of Queen’s University first year medical students got underway last week with the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Student Selected Component (SSC) module. The 10-week module comprises of teaching sessions, guest speakers, e-learning and group work including QI projects.
Dr Jackie McCall, Clinical Lead for the HSCQI Hub was delighted to be able to meet this year’s cohort of students and commented:
“We had a great first session and I am excited to sharing QI tools, techniques and learning with this group, and over the module finding out more about their QI projects. I will also be able to share with students about the HSCQI Network and hopefully we will have some enthusiastic students interested in keeping involved in QI as they progress in their careers.”
The students will have an opportunity to present their QI Projects to their peers, the HSCQI Senior Improvement Advisors and Clinical Lead at the end of the programme.
