World Quality Week 2021

2 November 2021

The 8th of November marks the start of World Quality Week 2021. Quality Week is dedicated to celebrating the contribution professionals have made in the field of health and social care and brings greater awareness to the importance of healthcare quality. After a year of great challenges in healthcare, it is more important than ever, that we celebrate the outstanding work of our colleagues and honour their commitment to maintaining a culture that promotes quality improvement . World Quality Week is anticipated date in the calendar for all Trusts and many have planned learning and celebratory activities throughout the week.

Northern Trust will be celebrating on World Quality Day 2021 with a day full of great activities that commend and showcase the fantastic work that is happening within the Trust.

To show their appreciation, Northern Trust Senior Leaders will visit their teams to ‘Thank you’ for their commitment to Quality Improvement. The Trust plans to also highlight their achievements throughout the year with a GREATix Celebration event which will spotlight their success at the HSCQI Improvement Awards, Q Exchange Awards, staff graduation from the Scottish Improvement Leader Programme (SCiL) and much more.

Southern Trust will be hosting online programmes throughout World Quality Week. The five day event will showcase the latest in quality improvement, host discussions on key issues facing the health and social care system, and provide an opportunity for the community to stop, listen, learn and reflect. The event will also bring back the popular ‘Dragons’ Den’ initiative in which teams will have the chance to win support and funding to bring their improvement idea to completion.

On World Quality Day, Belfast Trust plans will host a celebratory Webinar with a number of speakers from across the acute and community sectors of the organisation presenting on areas of innovation over the last 12-18 months and how it has improved the quality of care we provide for our patients and service users.

The Western Trust will mark World Quality Week by hosting their annual QI and Innovation Showcase Event. The event will be held virtually on Friday 12th  November and will aim to recognise and celebrate all the great QI and innovation work led by staff in the Trust. The event will allow staff to come together to share their improvement journeys and innovation stories. It will encompass five award categories to celebrate the great work that is going on to improve patient safety and the quality of care and services that the Trust provides.

It will also incorporate The Davin Corrigan Legacy Award for Improving Patient/Service User Safety Through Service User and Family Engagement for teams across the Trust who have engaged in continuous improvement work focusing on enhancing patient/service user safety through coproduction.
